so either none of you know where i live or you don't watch the news.
for those of you who care...I'm not dead. But, my neighbors across the hall had slugs go through their dining room and bathroom. I walked out of my door into some blood, and blood was on my door . I saw the guy who survived...pretty nasty stuff, he's the one who spread the blood about. His head was the size of a blown up beach ball and blood was dripping all down his neck. John was stuck in the apartment, they wouldnt let him leave and i had to be escorted by 2 officers and a homicide dective back into my apartment from class. 2 people dead...their bodies were removed aruond 8pm ish. I heard that their heads were blown off basically. Cops said there were drugs involved.
so,yeah. I hope to be moving soon.

Ok so it looks like I have one of two options: 1.Drop out of U of L for next semester 2.Pick 4 random classes that have nothing to do with my degree.
So, on my registration date I registered, got the little green checkmarks saying i was successfully enrolled. I didn't bother to go back and check it. Obviously, a really stupid move that is going to cost me $3,000. I go back the other day, and it says that i have NOT enrolled. All my classes ae sitting there but nothing was enrolled it.
So, now all my classes are full.
I go to registrar's office who basically tells me theres nothing i have that can prove i registered, etc. They tell me to talk to the JA advisor who says all she can do for me is ask the professors for overenrollment. 2 of them have said no unless i plan to graduate this semester. Which I don't. I have one professor who can tell me yes or no but either way, i am pretty much screwed. Here's why:
If I only take like 2 classes, then im a "part time student" meaning I lose my scholarship money and my father's insurance coverage. Since all the classes i NEED have basically denied me, i can fill my schedule with classes that have nothing to do with my degree (which are scarce and im still on a "waiting list" for those) and then waste $3000 of my own money. On top of that, i'll have to stay at school an extra semester because ill have wasted next semester.
I can drop out for next semester but I lose my KEES and U of L money forever and I also lose my father's insurance coverage.
I fucking HATE u of L at this point. They have royally screwed me over a technological snafu and its going to cost me a LOT of money and an extra semester of my time.
Oh and thanks for all the rudeness I have received in the process. Your school sucks, you provide a subpar education, you charge made-up fees to your fed-up students. You provide NOTHING to this town but your goddamn sports teams (who, i assure you, one team member would NEVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM).

I've always hated writing outlines. Ok, i know they can be incredibly useful and all that but i just never liked doing them. I have a 5-6 page paper due as a final exam and I have an outline for it due tomorrow. My outline is almost 3 pages long. Like, I just wrote my entire paper in bullet form. With all the energy I took to write all my notes down condensed, I could have just wrote what I actually wanted to say and elaborated slightly and viola! I have a 6 page paper. Psh.
I have a paper due wednesday about Salome. The bible story, you know, except how everyone has written about it for the past 2000 years. no outline on this one, thank goodness. I'm having trouble with it because there is just too sources to draw upon and not a very clear assignment guideline.
in other news: gonna go pick up final fantasy XII for john tonight for his b-day (which was yesterday, btw). Then, maybe i'll actually have time to play .hack//g.u.

im home!
when i first got into Chicago, i thought i was going to get on a plane right back towards Japan. The culture shock on reentry was a little too much. Chicago is full of people yelling at you to move along and just being rude. Japan is not. Once I got to Cinci on my delayed flight I felt like shit but y Dad made me feel alot better and got me taco bell which i did not finish even though i craved it. Im just got used to japans small portions of everything.
When i got home to John, I felt infinitely better. I missed him way too much.
5 weeks in Japan was fucking amazing and scary and stressful all at the same time. When I go back, it will definitely be under different circumstances and i will not have to live 21 other people everyday.
I miss you guys, im off work all this week and i go back on sunday. I dont have a cell phone right now though, but you can call me at home.

Well, im gonna be coming home soon. I love Japan but i miss home so much. Right now im in Kyoto, its really nice but suprisingly, there isnt much to do here unless you like doing the touristy thing. I want to head out to Gion (which is about 45 minute walk from here, not too bad) within the next two days. Tomorrow were going to a few temples, the next day we have a free day and the next, we head home.
I miss john sooooo much i miss ayanami i miss my hamster i miss my car i miss my dad ALOT
so im looking forward to coming home but im NOT looking forward to the plane ride. i could not fall asleep at all, not because i was excited but because the plane was so fucking uncomfortable. so im just going to cheat and take sleep aid.
i told work that i will not be coming back in till the following week. Mostly because of jet lag but i will have alot to take care of when i come back as well.
i want to hang out with everyone and do trivia night soon

a little update. Tenri went well but after 10 days we honestly did see everything we could possibly see. One of our last nights there we went to a Karaoke bar. I didnt sing by myself but the whole group sang Mr. Roboto, bohemian Rhapsody, some journey song i cant remember the ame but i knew all the words, dont fear the reaper and stairway to heaven, El Scorchio was the best though.lol
Tokyo was really fun but really short. Lots of awesome anime shops and 6 story arcades in Akihabara. Shinjuku is scary for girls, i think guys came up to us too much. Shibuya is awesome fun, so is Harajuku. Especially if youre intrigued by the art fashion here (like black sweatpants with plastic forks glued to them for $200, awesome stuff). Today, we got to Hiroshima for the A-bomb museum. It was really....depressing but i guess you can understand why. There is no anti-american sentiment for it though. Everywhere in the museum , it says that they hope Japan never makes the same mistake again. They see it as if they caused the bombs because of their militaristic actions.
The hotel were staying at is super nice though. Small rooms but really nice compared to what were used it. Western style beds with feather down comfortables and PRIVATE bathrooms. The train ride here was 4 hours but it was neat. We go to Nara next. Some people have homestays but they couldnt find one for us all so like 16 of us are staying in a hotel, like a Super 8 kind of deal. Nara for 10 days I think and Kyoto for 6 or something like that. Im excited but i also want to go home. I miss my apartment with John and laying next to someone in bed and not feeling so lonely.
After a while, you dont even think youre in Japan anymore, its just kind of second nature.

Id love to write to every one of you but I simply dont have the time. I dont even have much longer using the computer. The 13 hour plane ride was exciting! yeah right. As soon as we flew in to Osaka, we took a bus to Tenri which is a small town named after the Tenrikyo religion established here. The first thing we did was go to a japanese resturant called Joyful (everything has joyful in its name here...its really strange.) and it was an experience. The first piece of culture shock you have is how small the drinks are! They are the size of a large shot glass! Waitresses constantly have to come back filling up our drinks. Ordering food was obviously no easy task either. Weve learned to point at pictures and nod our heads yes alot. It seems to work. However, im picking up alot of japanese here. Its alot of fun when you realize you understand what someone is saying. People tend to stare alot and say the few english words they know.
Baths are crazy. Girls sit on a bucket naked with 4\5 other women trying to wash themselves. Its ok once you get over the initial embarrasment and I never take a bath without a friend because Japanese women love to dote on me and tell me (as much as they can) what beautiful skin I have.
Weve seen alot of awesome places on our independent excursions in and outside of Tenri. I tend to stick with the same 4 people because i get along with them pretty well.
I have lots of pictures to show you but I dont think theyll let me upload them on the computer here at Tenri University so they may all have to wait until I get home or figure out how to read Japanese directions for computers. lol
I love and miss you all, especially John. Im having fun, but im still thinking of him everyday.
See you soon, Ja matta!
Sarah

Well, this will probably be my last post in LJ until I'm in Japan. Don't know how often I'll have access to a computer but ill try to upload pictures and stuff if I can. Tonight, going to Wicks for trivia night so I can hang out with people for a while. Dad and I will be leaving at around 3am for the airport so you can still call my cell phone until like 5am. I'm just going to try and focus on getting the best experience ever out of the trip and not think about other things.
You can email me at anytime at auroraeon@hotmail.com.

I'm done with school for this semester, yay! took my anthropology final this morning and i did pretty well i think.
I have 29 days until i leave for Nippon! 29 days as in under 696 hours, or 41,760 minutes or 2,505,600 seconds. Happy! I even got my roomate for my first 10 days there. I don't recall meeting her at the orientation but i guess ill get to know her. I also got my 1gb memory stick in the mail today. Holds something like 400-450 pictures so i hope that will be enough to bring home with me.
If you want souvenirs, let me know.
OH AND TELL ME YOU'RE GOING TO IKASUCON, i want to know before I go!

According to a November Washington Post poll (whose results were published in February), 94 percent of Americans said they are "above average" in honesty, 89 percent "above average" in common sense, 86 percent "above average" in intelligence, and 79 percent "above average" in looks. Anyone remember gogaia online???
I've been playing the best game ever called Maple Story. It's really popular and basically its the same as gogaia except its an actual game. killing monsters, leveling up that sort of thing.
 www.mapleglobal.com
It's free to download and play but you can buy special items if you want. My user name is Aeonsix. You can add me to your buddy list :)

to those of you that may be interested: I heard word that i am officially accepted for the study abroad program to Japan. YAY. My dad is actually being really excellent about it. I imagined he would be kind of pissed when i told him that I would a) be flying out of Cinci b)Have to arrive 3 hours before departure c)departure is at 8:30 d)it takes at least 1.5 hrs to get to Cinci. Yet dad was pleasantly happy about getting up at 2:00am and taking me to Cinci. I'll be gone...a month..in Japan. I think that's pretty awesome. Pam's offer to pay my rent while I'm gone apparently still stands. We'll see. I'm asking for more than I should really need when I get my loan. Man...I'll be in way too much debt when all this school buisness is over.
